As I mentioned how diving started in Cabo in the 80s, it was an exceptional time, there was not so much construction, at that time I was invited to work with the company of Cabo Acuadeportes who were the owners of Chicago Molly and John Fox were also instructors of PADI and YMCA, and as the name says it offered everything related to water activities, but diving with a tank was the goal of attracting divers from around the world to this destination, so they did a diving course for several of us as it was Juan Gurrula, Miguel Alighieri, Marco Torres among others, we got to certify ourselves to be the guides of the Diving Center, we also learned to sail, to row in canoes, snorkeling, whale watching etc, and Friends of the Sea had their own guides as Manolo Metaca, Jose Luis Sanchez and Paco Silva but who had all the experience was our friend Manolo Metaca was an Instructor of the FEMAS, who during those times dived into the black coral, he was at great depths he was an expert in deep diving, he was our diving master, he dived only sometimes up to more than 80 meters, but that if very professional, when he took us deep diving he always told us to sleep well and not drink alchol , and we used the dive tables of the US NAVY in the United States, that’s how we explored the submarine cayon that is in Cabo San Lucas, the sand waterfalls, the northern wall where the last coral tree showed us that by desicion of the divers of black coral, left there, and this enormous means that probably a minimum of a century of years, Manolo Metaca was the first guide and instructor of recreational diving in Cabo San Lucas.
